By Zoila Palma:  Belize is promoting its nautical tourism industry at the 67th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida through a joint exhibition by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and the International Merchant Marine Registry of Belize (IMMARBE).

The partnership aims to attract yacht owners, captains, charter brokers and boating enthusiasts by showcasing Belize as both a destination for sailing and a place to register yachts under the Belizean flag. The event runs through Sunday, November 1, 2026.

At Booth 854 in the Yacht Builders Tent at the Bahia Mar Yachting Center, visitors can learn about the benefits of registering their vessels with IMMARBE and exploring Belize’s coastal and marine attractions. The initiative brings together yacht registration services and tourism promotion, with the goal of expanding opportunities within Belize’s nautical sector and attracting more visitors to its waters.

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) says that Belize is highlighting its proximity to Florida, with nonstop flights taking approximately two hours from Miami and two and a half hours from Fort Lauderdale. Visitors are being encouraged to explore the Belize Barrier Reef, offshore atolls and coastal marinas, while also experiencing the country’s rainforests, ancient Maya sites and cultural attractions.

BTB is also promoting sport-fishing opportunities, including bonefish, permit and tarpon fishing in destinations such as San Pedro, Placencia, Turneffe Atoll and Punta Gorda, as well as offshore fishing for marlin, sailfish and tuna.

The BTB and IMMARBE partnership seeks to strengthen Belize’s position as a destination for yacht registration, cruising, fishing and marine recreation.
