Belize’s Santander Sugar Achieves Global Sustainability Milestone with VIVE

By Breaking Belize Live News Staff: Santander Sugar Group Ltd., one of Belize’s leading sugar producers, has achieved Conditional VIVE Claim Level status following an independent assessment of its farms and facilities. The milestone represents an important step in the company’s sustainability journey and highlights its commitment to aligning operations with international standards.

The VIVE Programme, developed by Czarnikow in partnership with Intellync, offers a structured framework for agricultural producers to improve performance across environmental, social, and commercial areas. Assessments are carried out independently by Intellync, ensuring transparency, impartiality, and technical rigour.

Santander joined the VIVE Programme in 2023 and has remained actively engaged throughout the process. The recent assessment identified areas for improvement, which the company is addressing under standard remediation protocols. In addition, Santander is collaborating with the VIVE Climate Action team to measure its carbon footprint using internationally recognised methodologies, reinforcing its broader sustainability goals.

The Conditional Claim Level reflects Santander’s proactive approach to sustainability. The company’s next assessment is scheduled for March 2026.
