By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s K’iinich Ajaw (Sun god) Women’s Team defeated Mexico White 46-33 winning third place in 1st Women’s Pok-Ta-Pok World Cup on Sunday at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex.
The K’iinich Ajaw Women’s Team was dominant in the first half. The Mexican side made a rally in the second half, but the Belize team was too far ahead for Mexico to make any headway.
K’iinich Ajaw led 40-7 at the half.
Guatemala I’xk’at and El Salvador Kuskatan 1 will play for the championship later.
In the Men’s Pok-Ta-Pok World Cup, K’iinich Ajaw will face Mexico Black in the Final on Sunday.
Ek’Balam Belize will play Mexico White for third place.
