By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize is set for a major boost in air connectivity this winter, with BermudAir announcing new nonstop service to the country from five cities in the United States.

As part of a major winter route expansion, the Bermuda-based carrier will add Belize to its network beginning in December, with flights from Boston (BOS), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando-Sanford (SFB), and St. Pete-Clearwater (PIE). The expansion also adds Turks and Caicos and Guatemala City to the airline’s map, along with expanded seasonal service to Anguilla.

The new Belize routes will operate under fifth freedom authority, originating in Bermuda or Turks and Caicos. According to BermudAir, it will be the only carrier offering nonstop service to Belize from Boston, Raleigh-Durham, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando-Sanford, and St. Pete-Clearwater.

All flights will be operated on Embraer 190 aircraft. Tickets for the new routes went on sale last week.

The added routes give Belize five new direct links to the US market, a welcome development for the country’s tourism industry, which depends heavily on visitors from the United States.
