Belize Defence Force celebrates 46th anniversary

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Defence Force (BDF) is celebrating their 46^th anniversary.

Minister of Public Service, Political and Constitutional Reform Henry Charles Usher commended the Belize Defence Force for their unwavering commitment, selflessness, resilience, and valor.

“Your sacrifices, seen and unseen, significantly contribute to the formidable strength of our armed forces,” Minister Usher said.

“As I reflected on the message I wanted to deliver, the team of this year’s BDF Day guided my thoughts, defending our nation for the six years of commitment and courage. Your commitment sets the highest standards of military excellence, discipline, and patriotism,” he added.

Minister Usher noted that the sacrifices by members of the BDF have left an indelible mark, a legacy that Belizeans can all be proud of.

“The BDF has a long and dedicated history of service to this great nation. That service includes answering a call across a wide spectrum of operations, which include everything from defending our territorial integrity, all 8,867 square miles of our jewel, to responding to natural disasters, such as the most recent hurricane to hit Belize in 2022, Hurricane Lisa,” Minister Usher stated.

Minister Usher encouraged the BDF to celebrate every milestone and victories small and big.

“Belize is lauded as a tranquil haven of democracy, but these freedoms that we hold there could not have been achieved without sacrifice, without the selfless dedication of each and every one of you,” Minister Usher said.
