Belize City woman charged with burning down ex’s vehicle in Georgeville

By Aaron Humes: Belize City woman Tanisha Brunson has been arrested and charged with arson for allegedly setting her former common-law husband’s vehicle on fire.

The complainant, a German national residing in Georgeville, Cayo District, told police that he had made a police report in San Ignacio Town on Wednesday against Brunson. On returning to the village and while at a bar in the village, a neighbour informed him that Brunson and a man and two other women were at his house. He went to call police and accompanied them to his house.

On arriving they found the group, all residents of Belize City, except for Brunson who they said had gone into the bushes on seeing the Police. They were asked to leave and Ruben made another report.

At around 2 a.m. Thursday, he came home and saw smoke coming from his grey Mitsubishi Montero SUV, parked in front of his house. When he opened the driver-side front door, flames exploded. The Fire Service was called and extinguished the blaze which destroyed the entire vehicle.

Police spoke to all involved and an eyewitness and at the conclusion of their investigation charged Brunson with arson.
