By Breaking Belize News Staff: Glen Joseph, a Belize City technician, has been fined $505 after pleading guilty to common assault against his ex-girlfriend.
Joseph appeared unrepresented before a Magistrate in Court #7, where he admitted to his part in a physical altercation during an argument with his former partner. While Joseph claimed that both parties hit each other during the incident, he accepted responsibility for his actions.
Despite his account, only Joseph faced charges, as he did not pursue any legal action against his ex-girlfriend.
For his guilty plea, the court imposed a non-custodial sentence, fining Joseph $500 plus a $5 court fee. He has until January 2025 to pay the fine, failing which he will serve six months in prison.
