By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A routine police patrol in Orange Walk Town has ended with a man being charged over a drug-related utensil.
The Belize Police Department reports that on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at about 10:30 p.m., officers patrolling along Arthur Street stopped a man and advised him that he would be searched for illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition.
According to police, during the search officers found a silver metal pipe with burnt ends in the man’s front pocket. He was cautioned and informed of his rights.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the man was identified as 27-year-old Jair Bartley, a labourer of no fixed address. The pipe, measuring four inches long, was sealed and labelled for evidence.
Police went on to charge Bartley with possession of a utensil for smoking controlled drugs. He chose to remain silent.
