By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has taken steps to strengthen its partnership with the media, hosting a Media Energy Workshop aimed at fostering informed reporting on the country’s energy sector.

The workshop was held at BEL’s Corporate Headquarters in Belize City, where the utility company sat down with media professionals to discuss its plans for a secured, sustainable, and reliable energy future.

The sessions were led by a team of key experts. Mrs. Sheena Kuylen Simpson, General Manager, Energy Markets, Transmission and Interconnection, and Mrs. Dawn Sampson Nunez, General Manager, Employee and Corporate Services and Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary, along with Executive Chairman H.E. Ambassador Lynn Young, guided discussions on the regulatory framework, an energy supply overview, and the Cost of Power Adjustment, known as the COPA mechanism.

According to BEL, the workshop was designed to equip media professionals with the technical background needed to ensure informed and accurate reporting on these key energy topics. The company noted that its media partners play a vital role in helping the public understand the complexities of the energy landscape.
