International News: Mexico risks US tensions as Sheinbaum plans oil shipments to Cuba

By Zoila Palma:  Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has vowed to resume oil exports to Cuba, a move that could put Mexico on a collision course with US President Donald Trump, who has banned crude shipments to the island nation, Yahoo reports.

Sheinbaum has previously been praised for avoiding a direct confrontation with Trump, helping preserve a relationship that many believed was heading toward a rupture that could have seriously harmed Mexico’s economy.

But Sheinbaum and other international leaders, including Italy’s prime minister, have recently adopted a more assertive stance amid global economic strain linked to Washington’s actions and shifting political dynamics in the United States.
