Ministry of Education suspends classes in areas of Stann Creek due to flooding

By Zoila Palma:  The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (MoECST) has issued a statement advising that the District Education Centre is currently liaising with affected schools in the Stann Creek District due to deteriorating weather conditions and rising water levels in several areas.

The Ministry says that as a precautionary measure, affected schools are being advised to dismiss students at 11:00 a.m. today, Thursday, 11 June 2026, to ensure the safe transportation of students and staff before conditions worsen. School buses are also being instructed to return to base.

The Ministry says that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as necessary.
