We extended that same courtesy to Cayo Central Area Representative Alex Balona.
More than a week ago, BBN Newsroom contacted Balona directly regarding concerns raised by residents of Santa Elena about conditions in their community. We were not seeking a confrontation. We simply provided him with a platform and an opportunity to speak for himself, address his constituents publicly, and tell BBN and the people of Belize what he has been doing for the Cayo Central Constituency he was elected to serve.
His office acknowledged our outreach and indicated that his social media personnel would be in contact with our newsroom.
We waited.
And we are still waiting.
As of the publication of this article, Alex Balona has not responded to BBN Newsroom. There has been no phone call, no message, no written statement, and no response of any kind from the area representative or anyone on his team.
The people of Santa Elena and Cayo Central Constituency came to BBN with their concerns because they felt their voices were not being heard by the person elected to represent them. We took those concerns seriously and did everything within our power to provide their area representative with an opportunity to respond.
That opportunity remains open.
BBN Newsroom will continue to seek a response from Cayo Central Area Representative Alex Balona. We encourage him to contact our newsroom at any time so that his constituents can hear directly from him.
