By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Corozal Town on Tuesday night in which a 36-year-old DJ was killed and another man was injured, in what police believe may be drug-related.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, Staff Officer, said officers responded around 7:40 p.m. on May 26, 2026, after reports of gunfire on Flamboyant Street. Upon arrival, police found Roger Escalante with gunshot wounds. He was unresponsive at the scene.
A second victim, 25-year-old Ezer Alcoser, was also found injured during the incident. He was taken for medical treatment and later listed in stable condition.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victims had arrived at a residence on Flamboyant Street when an SUV pulled up.
A gunman exited the vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the area.
Police noted that Escalante was a person of interest in an ongoing drug investigation, and investigators are considering a possible drug-related motive.
No arrests have been made.
