By Zoila Palma: Data from the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) shows that inflation rates varied across the country’s municipalities in April 2026, with Orange Walk Town recording the highest increase in consumer prices.
According to the latest figures, Orange Walk Town posted an inflation rate of 4.2 percent, well above the national average of 2.9 percent.
San Ignacio and Santa Elena followed with a combined inflation rate of 3.8 percent, while Corozal Town recorded 3.1 percent and Belmopan stood at 3.0 percent.
Benque Viejo del Carmen matched the national inflation rate at 2.9 percent.
Meanwhile, San Pedro and Independence both recorded inflation rates of 2.8 percent. Punta Gorda Town registered 2.7 percent, followed closely by Dangriga Town at 2.6 percent.
Belize City recorded the lowest inflation rate among the municipalities at 2.4 percent.
