By Breaking Belize News Staff: Political frustration appears to be growing in the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, with some residents questioning whether an independent candidate could emerge victorious amid growing dissatisfaction with both major political parties.

Concerns have reportedly intensified for the ruling People’s United Party (PUP), as critics claim the party has lost the confidence of sections of the electorate.

Residents have also reportedly questioned the visibility and representation of area representative Alex Balona, with some asking for stronger leadership and engagement within the constituency.

At the same time, internal divisions within the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) continue to draw public attention. Supporters within the constituency have reportedly called for changes in the party’s caretaker, while disagreements among party members and longtime supporters have increasingly played out publicly, particularly on social media.

The ongoing infighting has also fueled criticism of the UDP’s national leadership, with some supporters expressing disappointment in party leader Tracy Taegar-Panton.

Political observers say the division within the opposition has left some voters uncertain about whether the party can present a united front before the municipal elections.

With confidence wavering in both major parties, some residents believe the political climate may create an opening for an independent candidate to gain traction in the twin towns.

Public exchanges and political bickering on social media by supporters of both parties have further highlighted growing voter frustration.
