By Zoila Palma: On Friday April 24, the Ministry of Health& Wellness in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology along partners hosted the 2nd annual Corozal Nutrition Expo.
The expo aimed to promote healthy habits such as nutrition, health education and physical activity for the prevention of obesity and other non-communicable diseases affecting both students and the general population.
The Ministry noted that the event showcased many booths for health promotion, mental health and drug prevention. The event featured a high school nutrition competition whereby various schools prepared creative healthy meals using local produce.
In addition, a grand football tournament was held for primary school students emphasizing the importance of physical activity while making it fun and competitive.
“We are thankful to all the schools, partners and the Ministry of Health & Wellness Team in Corozal for organizing such a successful event.
We are grateful for all the support as we continue to promote the Healthy Habits, Healthy Schools Initiative,” the Ministry expressed.
