By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology issued a statement saying that it is deeply concerned by reports of individuals approaching students in and around school compounds in western Belize and posing sensitive questions under the guise of surveys.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students remain our highest priority. The Ministry reminds the public that all school visits must be formally authorised by the Chief Education Officer. Managing Authorities and School Administrators have been directed to strictly enforce this requirement and to report any unauthorised activity immediately,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry added that it will be increasing vigilance across school premises through its school warden network and in coordination with law enforcement.
Parents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns to school authorities or the police.
The Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and will take all necessary steps to protect our students.
