By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso FC overturned an early deficit to defeat Benque United 2–1 on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League of Belize’s second‑round action at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan. The win lifts Progresso to 16 points, keeping them firmly in second place, two behind leaders Verdes FC, who remain perfect with 18 points from six matches.
Benque United stunned Progresso in just the 3rd minute, when José Miguel García finished a quick attacking move to give the Belmopan-based club a 1–0 lead. But Progresso responded with composure and attacking purpose.
Their equalizer arrived in the 15th minute. Latrell Middleton met a deep cross from the right flank delivered by Harlan Casanova, striking a right‑footed shot past the goalkeeper to bring the match level. The goal shifted momentum decisively toward the northern club.

Progresso completed the turnaround in the 40th minute. Middleton, now the provider, slipped a pass into space on the right edge of the box, where Walter Gómez unleashed a left‑footed shot from the right corner of the 18‑yard box, beating the keeper and giving Progresso a 2–1 halftime lead.
The second half saw both teams battling for control, but neither added to the scoreline as Progresso held firm to secure the victory.
The result keeps Progresso in strong position in both the Closing Championship and the cumulative standings as the race for the Concacaf Central American Cup berth continues.
