By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 64-year-old Belize City man is facing a criminal charge after allegedly threatening to burn down his ex-girlfriend’s home.
Retiree Anthony Codd, of Partridge Street Extension, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was arraigned on one count of threat to damage to property. The allegation stems from an incident on August 30, when his ex claimed he told her, “I wah burn down yuh house.”
Codd, who shares two young children with his ex, pleaded not guilty, insisting that the accusation is fabricated and part of an ongoing dispute over land he says belongs to him. He was released on $1,000 bail with conditions, including staying at least 50 feet away from his ex and not interfering with her or her family.
His next court date is scheduled for November 11, 2025.
