By Horace Palacio: In the face of hardship, one mother in Dangriga has shown nothing but determination. With seven children to care for and no steady income, she was doing what she could–selling hot dogs from a borrowed cart. But now that cart is gone, and the family is once again at square one.
They live in a humble home alongside their elderly grandmother. There is no running water, and cooking is done over an open fire. Her 14-year-old son, with aspirations of becoming a doctor, often heads to the river to fish and bring back food for his siblings. It’s a life filled with struggle, but also with quiet resilience.
Ladyville Highlights has stepped up in a big way by donating a hot dog cart to this mother so she can restart her business and generate much-needed income for her family. But there’s still more that can be done.
