By Horace Palacio: Police have formally charged 22-year-old Peter Amado Lara, a Belizean construction worker, for the murder of Mark Waight, also known as “Pito.”
Waight was found dead in a drain on Central American Boulevard on Saturday, January 25, with multiple gunshot wounds. Following investigations, authorities arrested Lara and charged him with the crime of murder on Monday, January 27.
Police reports indicate that Waight, who had a history of run-ins with the law was shot multiple times in an incident that also left 33-year-old Francine Herbert critically injured. Surveillance footage and witness statements reportedly linked Lara to the crime.
Lara remains in police custody as authorities continue their investigation.
