By Aaron Humes: A local fisherman is outraged, notifying the Crimes Investigation Branch on Wednesday morning after discovering that the engine from his boat had been stolen while it was docked at Airs Marina in Ladyville, Belize District.
He told police he received a distressing call at 8:29 AM from Abel Rodriguez, the owner of Airs Marina, who informed him that his boat’s engine was missing. Upon arriving at the marina, he observed that while his fiberglass skiff, named “Out Law,” remained at the dock, the crucial grey 40-horsepower Yamaha engine along with a red 7-gallon gas tank had been taken.
Surveillance footage reviewed revealed that around 1:30 AM, two unidentified individuals arrived at the marina in a dory. The footage shows them removing the engine and gas tank from “Out Law” before speeding away towards the Belcan Bridge. The reported value of the missing engine and gas tank is approximately $10,800.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the theft to come forward. Police are investigating.
