By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 26 year old woman from San Jose Village, Orange Walk District, has been summoned to court after police found the lounge she runs open after its permitted hours.

Laureny Tzul, who is self employed, was summoned for the offence of contravening the condition of a licence.

According to police, around 1:10am on Sunday, November 1, two officers on duty in San Jose Village noticed disco lights at 5 Sisters Patio and Lounge and went to check.

At the counter, they met Tzul, who told them she was in charge of the establishment. She handed over a publican special licence issued by the Orange Walk District Liquor Licensing Board in February 2026.

The licence requires the business to close between midnight and 10:00am on regular days. On Sundays, Christmas and Good Friday, it must close from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and from 11:00pm until 9:00am the next day.

Police say the licence holders were not present. Tzul explained that she runs the business and planned to get the liquor licence in her own name.

She was warned for summons and appeared at the Orange Walk Police Station on Tuesday, November 3, where she was formally summoned. She is to appear in the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 9, at 9:00am.
