By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk District are investigating a domestic dispute reported in San Jose Village on Sunday.
According to reports, around midday on April 19, 2026, a 28-year-old woman visited the police station and reported that earlier that morning she was at home with her common-law husband when an argument broke out over money.
The situation reportedly escalated when the man began behaving aggressively and allegedly grabbed the woman by her hair, dragging her out of the house. She managed to break free, but he reportedly grabbed her again, prompting her to defend herself.
The woman was eventually able to escape and called for police assistance.
Police have since detained the suspect pending investigation for the offence of common assault. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
