Weekend traffic accidents in Cayo claim second life

By Aaron Humes: Police say that around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, 31-year-old Elifar Vasquez and 38-year-old Moises Perez were driving a red and grey Nissan pickup truck at Mile 53 on the Hummingbird Highway when a white Ford pickup truck made a left turn in front of them. The Ford was being driven at the time by 44-year-old Omar Cawich.

The Nissan crashed into the passenger side of the Ford and all parties received injuries. The three men were rushed to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan, where Perez was pronounced dead at 2:00 a.m. Meanwhile, Vasquez and Cawich are both listed in stable condition.

Moises Perez and Eliefer Vasquez, a church pastor, both hail from Franks Eddy, Cayo District.

The accident took place a few hours after an accident on the George Price Highway in Cotton Tree, Cayo, that killed one woman and injured three persons in two vehicles.
