By Breaking Belize News Staff: A warehouse worker, Oscar Mauricio, 23; was given a six-month jail term after being busted for the third time in a span of months with a crack pipe and being unable to pay fines for his previous two convictions.
Mauricio appeared unrepresented in court on Wednesday and quickly pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of pipe used for smoking crack cocaine. He pleaded for leniency and threw himself at the mercy of the court.
His luck ran out, however, after the court discovered he had two previous unpaid fines for the same charge. He had been arrested and charged in July and August of this year and owed respective fines of $305 and $205 for each charge. He was unable to pay and was given one month in jail for his latest charge plus 5 months for the unpaid fines from his previous charges.
