By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Tracy Panton and supporters arrived at the UDP Headquarters in Belize City to “occupy” the UDP offices and carry out the work of the party.
They were joined by Attorneys Orson Elrington, Sheena Pitts and Godwin Haylock.
Attorney Pitts indicated that they provided a letter of authorization to be able to enter the building.
Heavy police presence was also observed as there were clashes between supporters of Panton and those loyal to Shyne Barrow.
After having entered the UDP Secretariat offices located on the lower flat of the building, the locks of the doors are being replaced.
Panton said during an interview that the delegates made their decision at their “Unity convention”.
Panton added that the goal is to unite the UDP including those who support Shyne Barrow.
Other notable members at the UDP headquarters today include Anthony “Boots” Martinez, Edmund Castro, Beverly Williams and John Saldivar.
Members of the Alliance for Democracy are still awaiting a decision from the Commissioner of Police as to whether or not they will be granted access to the upper flat of the UDP headquarters where the office of the Leader of the Opposition is located.
