By Zoila Palma: Recently, U.S. Ambassador to Belize Andre Bauer joined Belmopan Mayor Pablo Cawich and members of the Belmopan City Council in marking their completion of a 14-week course in Good Governance and Transparency offered by Galen University.
The course forms part of a countrywide training initiative aimed at strengthening municipal governments across Belize by equipping local leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to promote accountability and transparency in public institutions.
The initiative is funded through the U.S. Government’s Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) and Economic Support Fund (ESF) program.
It seeks to build the capacity of local leaders to improve governance and help create stronger, more accountable communities throughout Belize.
