By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): An Orange Walk Town man says two men entered his yard in broad daylight and threatened to kill him when they see him on the street, over a dispute rooted in twenty dollars, and police are now seeking both men.
According to the Belize Police Department, the 34-year-old self-employed man of the town reported that on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m., while he was at home, he saw two men entering his yard, one he has known for about 18 years, the other for about a year.
When he came out and asked the men what the matter was, he reported, they began behaving aggressively toward him and declared that they would kill him when they see him on the street. They then left his yard, repeating the threat as they went.
The complainant told police the trouble traces to a small sum: a relative of his, he stated, had taken $20 from the men while they were drinking together.
He reported that the sun was out and shining at the time, with nothing obstructing his view, allowing him to clearly recognize both men. He told police he is in fear of his life, and he requested court action.
A statement was recorded, and police have listed two persons as wanted in connection with the matter.
The matter remains under investigation. Threats of death are treated as serious offences under Belizean law, and anyone facing such threats is encouraged to report them promptly, as this complainant did. Anyone with information can contact the Orange Walk police or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 922.
