By Breaking Belize News Staff: After nearly three years of awaiting trial, interdicted Police Officer Darrel Daniel Usher, 43, of Hattieville, has been cleared of charges related to firearm and ammunition possession.

The charges against Usher were withdrawn today in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Coney Drive. The withdrawal took place in Court #6 shortly before 11 AM in the presence of his attorney, Richard “Dickie” Bradley.

The case against Usher was set for trial today, but it never commenced. Alifah Elrighton, the Head of Prosecution, informed the Senior Magistrate of Court #6 that the crown was withdrawing the charges against Usher without providing a reason.

When asked if he had any remarks, Bradley chose not to comment. Usher left the courtroom visibly relieved and smiling.

Outside the courthouse, both Usher and Bradley expressed their dissatisfaction with the prolonged legal process, emphasizing that Usher had been unfairly treated.

Usher was initially charged with possessing a black Glock 19 handgun with the serial number ADBWO19, along with four rounds of Aguila brand live ammunition. The arrest took place on October 16, 2021, on Madam Liz Avenue.

With the charges now withdrawn, Usher is a free man, having maintained his innocence throughout the legal ordeal.
