Troy Hyde confirmed as shooting victim along with girl, 15, in Jane Usher Boulevard area tonight

By Aaron Humes: Police sources tonight have confirmed the apparent murder of Troy Hyde of Jane Usher Boulevard, Belize City.

Hyde was apparently shot with a high-powered rifle near the basketball court in the area, not far from his home.

A minor female student, 15, has also been confirmed dead after being shot as well, dying while in treatment at hospital.

Hyde was no stranger to the law, having been acquitted of a murder charge in 2022 for the death of Kareem Lopez, among a slew of charges. He also lost a brother, daughter and close friend to gun violence dating back to 2017.

But he was also known in his neighborhood for generosity and manners and there has been an outpouring of mourning on social media tonight in his memory.

Police investigations are underway.
