By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Albert Area Representative Tracy Panton issued a statement as Belize prepares to celebrate its 43rd Independence Anniversary.
“As citizens of this beloved land, we are each afforded freedom of speech; freedom of expression; freedom of association; freedom to choose our own religious beliefs and political ideologies. We will not allow the dictates of a few determine who we are as a people; as political entities; as a Movement that is safeguarding the best interests of those who share the fundamental principles and values of our great United Democratic Party. In the last General Elections over 40% of the electorate more than 58,000 Belizeans voted for us,” Panton said.
Panton said that it is “high time we become the robust Opposition we have the responsibility to be.”
“It is high time we stand against injustices and tactics of fear and intimidation,” Panton added.
“Happy Birthday Belize. May God bless us all and may God continue to bless our homeland by the sea,” she expressed.
