By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating a fatal road traffic accident that claimed the lives of three people on Sunday night in Orange Walk District.

Reports indicate that around 10:11 p.m. on April 19, 2026, authorities responded to a crash along the Trinidad–August Pine Ridge Road in front of George Medina Farm. Initial investigations revealed that a red Ford F-150 pickup collided with a cane trailer being towed by a Freightliner truck traveling in the opposite direction.

As a result of the impact, the pickup lost control and veered off the road, sustaining extensive damage.

Three occupants of the pickup were found motionless and later pronounced dead. They have been identified as 29-year-old Celvin Cortez of San Felipe Village, 19-year-old Sherlyn Henriquez of August Pine Ridge Village, and 35-year-old Bryon Magaña of San Felipe Village.

Three other occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries. A 30-year-old woman and a three-year-old child remain in stable condition at the Northern Regional Hospital, while a nine-year-old child was treated and discharged.

The driver of the truck has since been detained pending investigation, and police say a urine sample was obtained for analysis.

Investigations into the fatal collision are ongoing.
