By Breaking Belize News Staff: “Thick Azmin” or real name Azmin Barrera, has been arrested and charged for theft after allegedly stealing a Glock pistol from a 73-year-old man she spent a night with during the Caye Caulker lobster fest and who allegedly knew her from her childhood.
According to police reports, Barrera was charged today after police finally were able to track her down.
The Caye Caulker business owner reported the theft of his licensed Glock 9mm pistol early Sunday morning. The firearm, valued at $2,500, went missing after the complainant spent the night with a woman he identified only as Azmin and could describe only as “thick”, who reportedly departed suddenly without his knowledge. He also told police that he knew her from her childhood when she was growing up.
On July 20, around 3:00 a.m. after watching television with Azmin in his bedroom, the two fell asleep. It wasn’t until approximately 10:00 in the morning that he awoke to find her gone.
Upon waking, he checked for his firearm, which he customarily kept in the left pocket of his pants, only to discover that it was missing. He immediately contacted the Caye Caulker Police to report the theft, prompting an investigation.
Police visited his residence to search for the missing firearm, but no trace of it was found. Investigators also attempted to locate Azmin, described as a thick-built individual with black hair, learning that she had left the island on the 10:30 a.m. boat to Belize City just hours after the incident.
