By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Commander of Community Policing Howell Gillett and team visited the patients at the Western Regional Hospital and delivered fruit cup salads to all patients.
“We are optimistic that our visit will help to build trust between law enforcement and the community. Our presence shows that we care and are commitmented to public welfare,” Gillett said.
“These visits allow our officers to be seen as compassionate individuals, which helps break down stereotypes and reduces fear or suspicion of law enforcement within the community,” Gillett added.
Gillett says that hospital visits by officers represent a compassionate approach to policing, showing the community that law enforcement is invested in both justice and healing.
