By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Survivors triumphed over the defending champions, Tut Bay, 4-3 in an overtime sizzler to claim the Belize District Football Association Championship on Saturday at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
The intense match saw Troy Augustine open the scoring for Survivors in the 31st minute, before Calvin Thurton equalized for Tut Bay in the 46th and Raheim Herbert put them ahead in the 66th. With time running out, Shamar Gillett levelled the game for Survivors in the 88th minute, sending the match into extra time.
Devon Augustine struck a brace in the 94th and 103rd minutes to secure a 4-2 lead. Thurton scored in the 107th minute for Tut Bay, but Augustine’s heroics handed Survivors the championship.
Augustine was deservingly named MVP of the playoffs.
