Stepfather charged after violent attack on stepdaughter

By Horace Palacio: A Middlesex, Stann Creek woman is recovering after a disturbing assault by her stepfather. According to police reports, the woman was at home with her mother on Thursday night when her stepfather, 59-year-old Clifford Terry, returned in an apparent state of intoxication.

Witnesses describe Terry as behaving aggressively, shouting insults at his stepdaughter, and demanding she leave his house. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, the woman stepped outside. Moments later, as she tried to re-enter the home, Terry allegedly produced a kitchen knife and lunged at her.

The woman bravely defended herself, raising her left arm in a protective gesture. However, she sustained a significant cut wound on her elbow in the struggle. Terry then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Police later apprehended Terry, charging him with wounding. He has been granted bail.
