Hailing from Santa Elena, Belize, Zoila Maria Palma is a trailblazer in media, dedicated to truth and empowerment. As a respected journalist, she amplifies voices, delivers impactful news, and champions integrity in storytelling. This Women’s Month, we celebrate her under the category “Women and The Media” for her unwavering commitment to informing and inspiring our nation,” the Special Envoy expressed.
Zoila Maria Palma, a passionate community activist and digital journalist, is a proud graduate of Saint Ignatius High School and Sacred Heart Junior College.
After discovering her love for writing, she became a digital journalist for Breaking Belize News, where her work has been cited internationally.
Zoila has participated in several influential programs, including the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and the Taiwan Media Tour. She also contributed to raising awareness about misinformation in Belize during the 2020 elections.
In addition to her journalism career, Zoila manages her family business, Palma’s Lumber and Supplies. A devoted mother of two, Zoila continues to empower and inspire young Belizeans, particularly women, to pursue their dreams.
Her dedication to journalism and community service highlights the vital role of media in a democracy, and she is committed to advancing the skills of fellow journalists in the digital age.
