By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Sittee River Village Council is seeking to reassure residents and neighboring communities that the ongoing boundary review process involving Sittee River and Hopkins is not intended to create conflict but rather provide certainty for future growth and development.
In a public statement issued last week, the council emphasized that Sittee River has a long history dating back to the 1800s and has always been a welcoming community for Belizeans and international residents alike.
According to the council, the village has grown through the contributions of people from different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities who have chosen to live, invest and build their lives within the community.
Addressing concerns surrounding the boundary review, village leaders stressed that the process is focused on achieving clarity and certainty for future planning rather than creating division between neighboring villages.
The council explained that clearly defined boundaries are important for infrastructure development, environmental protection, land management, public services and effective governance.
Officials also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strong relations with Hopkins and emphasized that both communities share a long history of cooperation and mutual respect.
The council concluded by pledging to continue working with all stakeholders to ensure that the process remains peaceful and constructive.
