By Aaron Humes: A high-speed shootout occurred this afternoon around 3 p.m. on the Philip Goldson Highway near mile 4.
Eyewitnesses report that a midsize SUV was chasing another vehicle. According to witnesses, the SUV driver pulled alongside the target car, and a gunman in the passenger seat fired at the driver with what appeared to be a nine-millimeter pistol. More than a dozen shots were heard before the targeted vehicle veered off the road and flipped over.
The identities of the driver and passenger have been confirmed to be Hubert Baptist and Eric Fraser. They were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where both are in treatment.
Investigations are underway.
