By Aaron Humes: One person is being sought after a shooting incident in the San Marcos area of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, left a 32-year-old man injured. The injured individual, identified as Winston Cayetano, was shot in the left shoulder during an altercation on Thursday evening.
Initial investigations revealed that the altercation began outside Sophie’s grocery shop on Sailfish Drive. Cayetano stated that after a brief argument with a man known to him, he left the scene but returned a few minutes later on his motorcycle. It was then that he encountered the same individual, who allegedly brandished a firearm resembling a Glock nine-millimeter pistol.
Cayetano reported that the assailant aimed the weapon at him and fired a shot, which struck him. He also mentioned that the firearm appeared to jam a second time, before he physically assaulted him before fleeing the scene.
Cayetano was treated at the polyclinic and later discharged as police investigations continue.
