By Breaking Belize News Staff: The Seventh Day Adventist Primary School in Ladyville fell victim to burglary last week, losing school equipment and cash totaling $4,800. Police investigations led to the arrest of a known repeat offender, 38-year-old Shane Bahadur Sr., who now claims to reside in Belize City.

After spending the weekend in detention, Bahadur Sr. was escorted by Ladyville police to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning. Shortly after noon, he appeared unrepresented in Court #2, where he was read a single charge of burglary.

According to police, Bahadur Sr. and others unlawfully entered the school premises on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The stolen items included a silver 15” Acer laptop with four glue-like marks from previous magnetic attachments (valued at $1,500 BZD), a white Epson projector (valued at $800 BZD), and $2,500 BZD in mixed denominations, bringing the total loss to $4,800 BZD.

Bahadur Sr. pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, due to the severity and prevalence of such crimes, the Senior Magistrate denied bail and remanded him into custody.

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the principal of Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, 50-year-old Samuel Chi, reported that his office had been burglarized between 9:15 p.m. on February 18 and 7:45 a.m. on February 19. The stolen items were confirmed to be school property.

Police launched an investigation, reviewing surveillance footage that led to the identification of Shane Bahadur Sr., a Belizean laborer who was initially listed as residing at #78 Dove Street, Ladyville. However, in court, Bahadur Sr. provided a different address, claiming residence on Fabers Road, Belize City.

Following his arrest, Bahadur Sr. was officially charged with burglary. His next court date is pending as authorities continue their investigations.
