By Zoila Palma: The Placencia Village Council removed 15 dump truck loads of sargassum from Placencia Beach on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The village council says that it continues with efforts to remove as much as possible with the assistance of the Sargassum Task Force and the Belize Tourism Board.
“Thanks to AL Construction for their assistance with some modified equipment to support this effort,” the Village council said.
Since 2011, the entire Caribbean has been impacted on economic, environmental and health levels, by the massive events of Sargassum on its beaches.
