By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Monday, a significant milestone was achieved with the inauguration of the new Santa Elena police station, a long-awaited addition to the growing town.
The ceremony was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries and the Belize Police Department.
The new station, located on Carillo Puerto Avenue, marks the fulfillment of a longstanding community request for enhanced law enforcement in Santa Elena.
Residents and business owners had long advocated for a dedicated police presence to ensure the safety and security of their expanding town.
In a display of community spirit, the Santa Elena Business Community has rallied to support the police force.
To enhance the working environment for the officers, local businesses have generously donated a water cooler, coffee maker, and coffee table.
The newly opened police station is currently staffed by 29 officers.
The Commissioner of Police has expressed hopes of expanding the team in the near future to better serve the community.
