By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP):  Police in southern Belize are investigating an alleged scam involving the sale of a house through Facebook Marketplace.

A Dangriga woman reported losing more than seven thousand dollars after agreeing to purchase a Mennonite-style zinc house located in Hopkins Village.

According to reports, the woman made several payments totaling over $7,300 to a man identified as Ashley Ken Usher. However, she later learned that the house was no longer available after reportedly being repossessed by a bank.

The woman told investigators that when she requested a refund, the suspect allegedly made excuses before eventually blocking her on social media.

Police say the suspect is now being sought for questioning in connection with obtaining money by deception.
