Runman allegedly busted with weed, coke and crack says he was set up

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Robert Glenford Thomas, 42, a courier or “run man” and deliveryman for Atlantic Restaurant, was charged for allegedly trafficking drugs but he says he was set up.

Thomas appeared in court on Tuesday and was read a charge of possession of a controlled drug for 35 grams of marijuana and two counts of trafficking for 1.5 grams of powdered cocaine and 1.5 grams of crack.

Thomas, hoping to resolve the matter swiftly with a fine, initially pleaded guilty. He explained, however, that he believes he was set up because he was on a courier run for a client and he did not know the contents of the package he was delivering when he was searched.

With that, the sitting Magistrate entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and offered him bail in the sum of $3,000 plus one surety of the same. He is due back in court on June 27. He was arrested by police following a search on April 14.
