By Aaron Humes: Eldon Marlon Young, 41, was fined $250 and cost of court for a 4 1/2 inch silver and black metal knife he was found with at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, May 2, inside Pinks Alley, Belize City.

The car washer and errand runner fell afoul of an old law that makes it an offense to have in your possession any blade longer than 3 inches on the street between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Young wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the charge and must pay by June 14, in default, 2 months imprisonment.

Police say Young was seen acting suspiciously by officers on patrol in the area and a search uncovered the blade.
