By Zoila Palma: The People’s United Party has opened its application process from June 1st to June 19th for qualified and committed candidates to contest the UDP for the upcoming municipal elections in 2027.
Councilor Aaron Mai has made his bid official to contest as the PUP Mayoral candidate for San Ignacio and Santa Elena.
Joining Mai in submitting their application was former Councilors Omar Rodriguez and Matthew Preston along with newcomer, media personality Eliu Yacab.
“Having proudly served as a Councilor for two consecutive terms, I now present myself as a candidate for Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena under the People’s United Party.
My decision to seek this office is driven by a clear vision for the future of our twin towns. As Mayor, I will focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving drainage systems, upgrading and maintaining our streets, supporting educational opportunities, expanding local tourism development, and promoting sustainable economic growth,” Mai explained.
Mai has pledged to embrace a future-focused vision that prepares San Ignacio and Santa Elena for the opportunities and challenges of 2027 and beyond.
“Together, we can build a municipality that is safer, more prosperous, better connected, and positioned as a leading destination for investment, tourism, and quality of life. The future of our twin towns depends on the decisions we make today, and I am ready to lead that transformation with dedication, transparency, and accountability,” he said.
Mai will face off with 4-term Mayor Earl Trapp Jr.
