By Zoila Palma:  The Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) reports that inflation varied across municipalities in March 2026, with Punta Gorda Town recording the highest increase in consumer prices at 2.8 percent.

SIB noted that residents in Punta Gorda experienced above-average price hikes across several categories, including food items such as fish, cereal products, meats and sugar.

Additional increases were noted in restaurant and café services, clothing and footwear, liquefied petroleum gas, alcoholic beverages and health services.

Meanwhile, Independence Village recorded the lowest inflation rate for the period at 1.4 percent. The Statistical Institute attributed this to generally lower price increases across most categories when compared to other municipalities.
