By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso defeated Porta Layola 1-0 but Port advanced to the Finals of the Premier aLeague of Belize’s Opening Season.
The 1-0 Progresso win drew the home and away series 2-2 on aggregate, but Port qualified to the Finals by virtue of scoring two away goals in Orange Walk last week when they defeated Progresso 2-1 at the People’s Stadium.
Progresso’s lone goal was converted by Raymond Ramos in the 45’+1 minute as the first half was expiring.
Despite not qualifying for the Finals, Progresso showed a lot of determination by gaining a win over Port who had beaten them three times this season.
Port Layola will now face Altitude who beat Verdes 2-0 on aggregate after a second 1-0 win, this time in San Ignacio.
